Speaker Biographies

The Honorable Michelle Rick is a judge of Michigan’s Fourth Court of Appeals, having been elected in November 2020. Prior to ascended to the appellate bench, Judge Rick served as a judge of Michigan’s 29th Circuit Court. She served on the circuit court from her appointment by Governor Jennifer Granholm in 2007 until she began her tenure on the appellate bench. Prior to her judicial service, Judge Rick served Deputy Legal Counsel to the Governor, as a county prosecutor, and as Assistant Attorney General from 1995 to 2006. Judge Rick as served as District Director for the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ), and she has been a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. Judge Rick is a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, and she has served as an Adjunct Law Professor at both Michigan State University College of Law and Cooley Law School.

Meribeth Banaschik is a Partner at EY Germany, based in Cologne, Germany, where she leads EY Europe West Forensics Discovery & Digital Solutions. An attorney qualified in Germany, the United Kingdom (solicitor), and the United States, Meribeth is a former litigator and financial services corporate counsel who consults general counsel offices, law firms and litigators around the world in pressing issues of managing data properly. In addition to leading the German eDiscovery and Managed Document Review practice, she is also responsible within Forensics for GDPR compliance projects, document intelligence and litigation operations.

Prior to joining EY in 2017, Meribeth served as a lawyer for German and American law firms and financial services firms. Meribeth is a graduate of Texas A&M University, and she holds both a law degree and an MBA from St. Mary’s University.

David Horrigan is Discovery Counsel and Legal Education Director at Relativity. An attorney, law school guest lecturer, e-discovery industry analyst, and award-winning journalist, David has served as counsel at the Entertainment Software Association, reporter and assistant editor at The National Law Journal, and analyst and counsel at 451 Research. He serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Legaltech News, the Data Law Board of Advisors at the Yeshiva University Cardozo Law School, the Global Advisory Board of ACEDS, and the Faculty and Planning Committee of the University of Florida Law E-Discovery Conference. David was First Runner-Up for Best Legal Analysis in the 2019 Lexblog Excellence Awards, and he is the author of the annual Data Discovery Legal Year in Review. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, and he studied international law at Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands. He is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia.

Scott Milner is a Partner at the international law firm, Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he is Co-leader and one of the original attorneys in Morgan Lewis’ eData practice. A 17-year veteran of the firm, Scott counsels and advises companies in electronic discovery and information governance processes and best practices. He works with Morgan Lewis’ lawyers across practice groups to tailor strategies and discovery management plans for clients around the globe, in numerous industries and disciplines. Scott’s practice encompasses all phases of e-discovery, from preservation and collection to review and production of large volumes of electronically stored information (ESI). Scott is a graduate of the University of Florida where he serves on the Faculty and Planning Committee of the University of Florida Law E-Discovery Conference. He holds a law degree from the Villanova University Widger School of Law.
